such great heights

today felt like the last day of summer. it was as though the trees were shining their brightest greens especial for today. the sun was beaming down at unbearably high temperatures and i just drove around the country, listening to the postal service. somehow, the beauty of nature all around me was complimented perfectly by the pleasant, poppy electronic music. i walked around the state park and considered jumping into the kankakee river. jim didn't want to. he said we might die like jeff buckley. i still wanted to chance it, not out of a death wish, but out of a love for life. maybe this blog deal isn't so bad after all.

Three Notes and Runnin' has decided to protest the recent court decision that cited N.W.A. with illegally sampling a snippet of Funkadelic's Get Off Your Ass and Jam that had been modified to the point of unrecognizability. So in the tradition of online civil disobedience such as Grey Tuesday, Downhill Battle has issued a challenge to sample-based artists to create 30-second remixes that consist of nothing but the disputed 1.5-second Funkadelic sample.
